Honeywell's MICRO SWITCH CPS Series Cable-Pull Safety Switches provide a readily accessible emergency stop signal, offering a cost-effective alternative to multiple emergency stop push-buttons. The CPS Series features an internal mechanism that latches on both slackened (push) and pulled cable conditions.

The 2CPS Series is designed for long cable runs up to 152 m (500 ft), making it ideal for applications like warehouse conveyor systems. A visible line in the cable tension window indicates proper tension for easy setup.

The direct opening switch contacts remain closed when the cable is properly tensioned and the reset knob is in RUN position. Any cable pull, slackening, or breakage triggers a cam to positively open the NC (Normally Closed) contacts, which remain open until manually reset.

When the direct opening contacts open, auxiliary contacts also actuate (open contacts close). These NO (Normally Open) contacts are electrically isolated and can be used for monitoring or signaling.

Cable-pull switches with broken cable detection require proper pre-tensioning to enable RUN condition. Temperature changes affect steel cable length, which can cause nuisance shutdowns on long runs.

For optimal installation, set up the system at the midpoint of expected temperature extremes. For example, in a warehouse with temperatures ranging from 15.6°C (60°F) to 32.2°C (90°F), install at 23.9°C (75°F).

Use an endspring or additional CPS at the opposite cable end to double temperature tolerance and meet EN 418 requirements.
